My research is focused on perception, vision and how we process visual material as we travel through our surrounding urban and suburban environments. I start with a fascination for the architecture of shopping malls, commercial offices, modernist buildings and public transportation. I’m interested in the observation of these places and non-places and other visual experiences as they relate to theories of human daydreaming and the recognition of our visual sensitivities. The integration of digital imaging, vector graphics, modeling and animation allow me to reconstruct spatial scenarios regarding these observed landscapes and constructed environments to explore features of our perception including parallax, gestalt principles of grouping, and linear perspective. I try to articulate the absences and intervals between spaces through works that are perceptual and experiential in nature to allow the viewer to drift in and out of perceptual recognition.
